Building a Dinosaur Terrarium at the Botanical Gardens in Buffalo, NY - Photographed by Ariel Hawkins Photography
Last Saturday I took my nephew and his friend to attend the Dinosaur Terrarium workshop up at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens and it sure didn’t disappoint! The boys had such a blast playing in the dirt, laughing and learning all about how this ecosystem works! Also I got to make one as well and I truly enjoyed it. The teacher was very knowledgeable, funny, kind and patient. I really enjoyed her!
So here are the steps we followed to make our terrariums:
From the bottom layer up we added rocks, sand, charcoal, soil, 1 cup of water and then our plants. Sealed tight in a plastic container we were told they shouldn’t need much maintenance!
If you’re ever looking for fun things to do for the littles I always suggest at least being on the mailing lists for your local libraries, zoo’s, museums and gardens! Now that my guy is a teenager he doesn’t so much enjoy these things as much but I still have my littles to take along with me!
