Top 5 Tips on Preparing for your Family Photo Session- Ariel Hawkins Photography, Buffalo NY

Hey!

So has it been a while since you dusted yourself off and set out on the wild adventure of finding the right Photographer for your family session? Well once you do find them, will they help you achieve the ultimate goal of that fantastic family portrait wall? Will they make sure to educate you on what to expect and how to prepare for that session? Will you get that feeling from them that they truly are invested in you 100% ? If you answered yes to all of these questions then my friend, you have found your Tog! If not, well you know how to reach me ;) !!

So I want to hit on 5 very important things to consider before you walk into your Professional Photography session. Please feel free to contact me HERE if you have any questions or you want to book your next Family Photo Session!

#1 Have in mind that not everything goes perfectly. Especially when you’re dealing with kiddos, boy do they have a mind of their own! Remember that a trained Professional is going to KNOW how to handle this situation and your kids! Find someone that you feel is going to take the time to play with your kiddos and really get them excited about taking photos. The best photos are captured when your kid is having FUN!

#2 Lay out your outfits on the bed and take photos. Compare different tops with different bottoms. Use sites like Pinterest to come up with color schemes that will really pop with the colors & nature of the season your in! A really great Photographer will coach you through what NOT to wear and what to wear depending on colors and what’s trending for the season!

#3 Bring snacks for your photographer… just kidding! Bring snacks for your little ones so they can take a break if they need to and not get hangry! If you know kids at all there is nothing worse than the rush around of the day and then off to your session you go and dang you forgot the snacks! A really great photographer should have some with them at your session to help out with the hunger pains.

#4 Go with the flow. The more relaxed you are, the less upset you become over situations that may be slightly out of your control. This gives the photographer a much better edge over getting the most cooperation from your children. Kids that are constantly being bossed tend to get upset easier and then do not want to participate in any of the day. and just go with the wind, the more fun you’ll have!

#5 Explore with your photographer! Trust that through your chats on the phone, via email or in person that your photographer is going to create something MAGICAL! By spending time preparing you for your session you have given your photographer a insight into what you and your family are all about. Your Photographer will be able to vision how they want to capture the moment your in.

So to wrap it all up, the main point here is you’re doing something for YOU! It’s supposed to be fun, relaxing and will evoke emotions from you every time you pick up that picture and look at it! Thanks for reading along! LIVE.LAUGH.PHOTO. <3 ARIEL
