Behind the Scenes at a very special Maternity session.

They say that becoming a mother is one of the only things in life that you would never understand until you have become one. I say it's totally true. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I was terrified because all of the sudden I had to take care of another person and their life was in my hands, that's a huge responsibility!

None the less, my son was born and I have never to this day felt more joy, love, patience and understanding than I do now. There are no words to describe how wonderful it is to become a mother or a father. The love you have for your child is like not other love you have ever felt. It is truly a blessing to be able to share in his accomplishments and his tenacity towards life.

This particular session is one that hits close to home for me. Ashley and I have been friends for a few years now and I look at her as an adopted little sister to share experiences with. She is a strong and beautiful woman who has been through so much in her young life. I am so honored to be able to share this special moment with her and her child and I can't wait to see him grow in life and love.

These portraits were taken in the studio using a Canon EOS 5D Mark ii with a 50mm F 1.8 lens. The settings in camera for this session were ISO 320 with F 2.5 at 1/125th of a second. I used a full wall of windows and natural light to the left and a large V-Flat ( a V shaped foam core board with white on one side and black on the other side) to bounce some light back in to the right of my subjects.

The dresses for this session were ordered from  The Citrus Branch in a peach and brown color. The dresses were perfection! They were easily wrapped and worked wonderfully on my Pregnant friend and my regular model.

These two beautiful ladies are best friends, and to continue with my sister's theme they fit right in. Danielle is the older sister of the two young girls I previously blogged about set in the barn scene. And my gosh, I really do have the most stunning people in my life!

Telling a story through an image is such a powerful way to communicate. I hope you enjoyed reading along today and learned a little something new. If you enjoy what you see, I love new friends! Just click the social icons to find me below.  LIVE.LAUGH.PHOTO. <3 Ariel
